15 Minutes of Shame
After the war ended we were all waiting at Chabua to go home. One day a P-51 literally tore up the place by buzzing every thing he could.  This went on for some time. He finally landed, climbed out of the cockpit, and was coming down the ladder with the Blood Chit on his back showing.  The angry base commander, who at that time was temporary and a Major, ripped the chit off, saying that it was not uniform any more. The pilot stepped down and turned around.  He was a Bird Colonel!  He said, "Major, you have 15 minutes to get that sewed back on!"
