Sun. 28/OCT/45
Dear Mom,
I received your October 15th letter on the 26th Mom.
Thats only 11 days.
I guess my letters take from 3 to 4 weeks now.
Mail has 2nd priority now.
I guess its just as well to get the boys home first.
I'm feeling fine yet and I have a safe job, so don't worry about me.
I guess I'll be one of the last to leave India as I only have 22 points.
I may be home by Easter.
Yes I know Walter Kramer.
He and I left Overland together to go to Jefferson barracks.
I'm glad that you and Pop and Al & family are still O.K.
I guess its to late to wish Albert a happy birthday, but this letter may get there in time.
It has been nice and cool here lately.
They say the winters are swell here.
Leo wrote a letter to me.
He says he will leave Japan some time in Nov. He's in Yokahama Japan.
I'd like to be coming home with the 89th div. but I guess I'm lucky to be where I am.
This place is as nice as any camp in the
states tho. and I'd just as soon be here as to be in some place in the states where I couldn't get home.
At least I get 20% more pay here.
I hope that you and the family stay well and happy. Don't worry about me drinking poison alcohol.
All I drink is a can of hot beer once in a while.
The leaves are tea leaves.
There must be a million acres of tea in India.
About 10 more of our men left for home this week.
They had 60 points and over.
Yes Mom, I have a lot to look
forward to when I get home.
I told you I may try to learn a trade in a plant or somewhere under the GI bill of rights.
I think that electricity and refrigeration is a good thing.
What do you think will be a good job?
I don't know anything new to tell you.
Everything is still O.K.
All the priests in this area are going to give a high Mass next Sat. afternoon 3PM at a GI cemetery.
Its the day after all souls day but it will be the only time that we can get off of work.
Well so long Mom, and Pop and Albert and family and may God bless all of you
XXXX
your loving son.
Andrew.
